The RYA Intermediate Powerboat course refreshes and builds upon the skills already learned, focusing on more advanced boat handling, pilotage, and passage planning for coastal waters during daylight hours. It's designed for those who want to take their powerboating further and exploring more challenging conditions.

Students learn using both traditional and electronic navigation techniques, including chart work, GPS, and chart plotters, to plan and execute coastal passages, whilst increasing their knowledge of the effect of tides and weather.

In the classroom we build on the knowledge of 'day time' buoyage and day shapes displayed on ships with the lights shown at night in preparation for undertaking passages during the hours of darkness.

Provided with the course is the RYA Powerboat Handbook (G13)
