taster course - introduction to powerboating
This is for you if you are considering buying a boat or are just keen to get your family out on the water, to have a knowledge of what boating entails and the opportunity of driving the Rib rather than just going out on a 'skippered charter' - the course will be undertaken on one of our school ribs and include driving the rib on the Solent and an introduction to IRPCS, buoyage, etc. including exiting and entry into the port of departure. Empasis on safety on the water, considering the weather, what to wear and lifejackets, the safety kit on the boat and driving the craft within individuals capabilities, travelling at a safe speed, etc.

| Minimum duration: | depends upon numbers, not including more than '5 drivers' |
| Minimum age: | no minimum however under 16's to be accompanied by an appropriate adult |
